You'd be surprised how many people reluctantly put up with AT&T's abysmal service just so they can have an iPhone.
People like me, who really like the iPhone but consider AT&T unbearable, are using older generation unlocked iPhones on T-Mobile, which, despite any of its faults, is far superior to AT&T.
I'm looking forward to getting my Verizon iPhone. I'm saddened to be leaving T-Mobile (their customer service is excellent, and their pricing and optional services are top-notch), but Verizon offers better reception in my house.
But see you are not leaving AT&T now, you are leaving T-Mobile.

A great keynote introducing a revolutionary new design and interface which for me was far more exciting than the iPhone itself. I can already see the next iPod generation taking a similair design and interface but without the phone and price tag. So kudos to Apple... they did it again.

My iphone 3g is jailbroken and i was uploading fonts onto it but as soon as i changed the systems font the phone froze. After that i restarted the phone and it now gets stuck on the apple logo. what can i do to fix it??

they'll let people upgrade at the subsidized iphone price (with a new 2-yr deal) because they'll see a mass exodus of subs if they don't.

there was supposed to be a mass exodus when the Verizon iPhone was reeased as well/ It was not as many as the analysts expected. I doubt there will be a mass exodus for this either becasue the majority of people are sheep. They might get mad for a moment, but eventually they will justify staying and that will be it. Making a stand is hard, conforming is easy.

What, did Apple think that Verizon customers would warmly welcome someone who shunned them for 4 years? The customer is most important, shouldn'thave signed that exclusive contract with AT&T... relly stunted their growth in the CDMA market, people move on too...
If Apple had not signed that exclusive contract with AT&T, there would be no iPhone as we know it. Nor would there be Android as we know it. AT&T was the carrier willing to cede device control to Apple, which was a real game-changer. They required exclusivity to do it.
Android fans should be thanking Apple for that partnership, because not only did it make their own OS possible, but it also gave their OS a growth opportunity while Apple was tied down with AT&T.

I downloaded a movie rental before my travels and when I tried to play it an error message came up that said the movie is unable to play. I have tried restating the I pad 2 but it did not correct the problem. Any advice on how to correct this issue.

Hello, I currently have a iPod touch 2g with 4.2.1 firmware and a iPod touch 4g with 4.2.1 firmware but when I try to jailbreak both iPods with the corresponding firmware, redsn0w freezes at "waiting for reboot.". Anyone know of a fix? I tried unplugging and plugging iPod, also switching ports.

I borrowed a faster Mac, and used that to install to its HDD, I think it mayve had more RAM, then dumped the HD in my trusty eMac and let it boot. It wouldnt boot on 64MB though... I tried that xD

Lets hope they fix the OSX Server SMTP issue as well. We had to move everyone off of outlook for Mac because it would no longer connect for the SMTP side of our OSX server. Could receive email no problem but would not send. Move to OSX Mail and no issue. Outlook on PC no issue. Very odd problem and could not solve it.

Guessing that MobileMe (as it is now) will go free, and then the premium service will allow backup and access to all your system. $100 a year for that would definitely be worth it.

You are obviously missing the point. Apple's new subscription model is preventing choice from coming to it's customers. How is that not a bad thing?
Not at all. FT and the like can still do their own system but not folks can choose to use the in app option and use an established pay system instead of putting their info and credit card on yet another site. Plus you can skip credit cards all together by using iTunes gift cards, which you can buy pretty much everywhere these days

Disappointed. Great for Wall Street and Steve's stock, but who's minding the computer side of the house? I think dropping the "Computer" from its name was the single most significant news of the show. What's next a new gaming console?
iPhone - revolutionary in that it raises the bar VERY high for other manufacturers...But it still smells like first generation to me. Behind the arguably flawless design, usability and performance issues are already being raised. Kudos to Steve and his enormously talented staff, but I'll pass on early adoption. But slick..oh so slick..No one is as good as SJ for coordinating such a project. Now let's see how it sells.
appleTV - mediocre offering at best. 40Gb is way too small to host any HD material. It just begs for an upgrade. Why should it be paired to a computer if it has a wireless connection to the internet? My Xbox360 already can and play HD games to boot!
- no news about MacPro (where's the eight core!)
- no news about laptops
- no update to iPod in the near future (iPhone notwithstanding of course, but what if I don't want or need the phone part?)
- Cingular exclusive deal has already alienated non-Cingular customers
- no new displays (HDCP compatibility)
- no "...and one more thing"
A significant watershed show nonetheless. I can understand the need to focus on the iPhone : there's so much to say about it and it would have surely stolen anything else's thunder. I'm just afraid the gadgets are taking over an AWESOME COMPUTER company and leaving all of us behind. I'm not so fussed about any photos of it or demo models just so long as they announce it IS happening and what to expect.
Hoping for backwards compatibility (A FLAMING MUST!), better PSN integration, UMD+internal memory and a second analogue stick.
